Horse Training Goes Hi-Tech with Mobile-Based App
A new mobile-based iTunes/iTouch App, "Horse Exercises," was successfully launched in February by Hollywood Horse Club, a California-based equestrian company formed by Rhonda Malone and Shelly Morita. The app has grown from what they thought would be a small demographic to a worldwide audience. "We targeted it towards young girls," says Morita. "But the app has sold worldwide to people of all ages regardless of gender. We'll eventually expand it to the Android and possibly the Blackberry, too," she adds. They released "Western Pleasure Training" on May 10 and will follow with "Jumping," "Equine Games," and more. "People are contacting us with all kinds of suggestions for apps," Morita says. Both apps are premised on training and advice offered by expert trainer Kerri McKay; future apps will enlist different trainers. The easy-to-use interactive horse training program is complimented by cool art and sophisticated audio, video and written content that puts an expert trainer in your pocket at all times without the cost of private training. Users touch the "interactive horse" to select the exercise that they can practice while riding their horse. A calendar tracks their progress and when they complete all of the training, a box pops up with a bonus exercise. There is a Hollywood Horse Club app for every equestrian from beginner to expert. "Horse Exercises," is being offered at a reduced price of $0.99, May 25 to May 29. Many more equine apps and games are in the works. To see "Horse Exercises," visit www.hollywoodhorseclub.com or Rhonda Malone by e-mail or phone, Hollywoodhorseclub@mail.com or (714)-931-5800.
